Panarea
The international jet set loves it, as well as wealthy tourists attracted by the idea of “bella vita” – good life and “dolce far niente” - sweet idleness. Panarea is the smallest and the most fashionable island, an “exclusive club” with a marina that during the summer is crowded with yachts and tourists who walk down the pedestrian streets of the village of San Pietro, between white houses and flower gardens. In addition to this, it is famous for its fantastic blue water and great diving spots. The most beautiful beach is Cala Giunco, situated near the prehistoric village to the south, a magnificent inlet of pebbles and crystal clear sea, accessible by a staircase. The only sandy beach (very crowded in August) is the Zimmari beach. With a short boat trip you can reach Lisca Bianca and Lisca Nera, the two most fascinating coves of the islets of Panarea: ancient extinct volcanic vents that were probably once united, but then were swallowed by the sea.
